The Artist

Ever since arriving on the educational music scene with the debut self-titled cassette "Étienne," students all over the world have been rockin' and hip hoppin' to the distinctive beat of Étienne. "When I released the first album I was confident of what the music could do, having witnessed the success with my own students, but I was never prepared for the overwhelming response it has received worldwide."

"Étienne" is Steven Langlois, a full-time Department Head, Think Literacy Team Teacher and Project Coordinator of FSL Renewal for the Greater Essex County and Windsor Essex Catholic District School Boards in Windsor, Ontario. About juggling a full-time teaching career with a full-time singing career Steven says, "the rewards are there when you get the email at the end of the day or receive a letter from a student or teacher who writes just to say 'thank you'."

Étienne Wins again at Canadian Music Indies Awards!
Étienne is the winner of "2004 Favourite Children's Artist" at Canadian Music Week Indies Awards.  Nominees are chosen by committees made-up of industry professionals from all areas of the Canadian music scene and this year the fans decided on the winners by voting online! Étienne wishes to thank everyone who voted and made this award possible.
Étienne Wins at MTV's Canadian Music Indies Awards
It's official. Étienne's latest CD "C'est le temps" is the winner of "2003 Children's Album of the Year" award presented at the Canadian Music Week Indies Awards celebration, hosted by MTV. His CD "C'est le temps" was chosen above many established performers including Fred Penner and Michael Mitchell. Étienne was not present at the ceremony due to Tour obligations that saw him performing in Edmonton, Alberta at the time. Fortunately, good friends Melissa McKibbin (seen left) and Krista Mohr were happy to step in.

Étienne is honoured by the Ontario Modern Language Teachers Association
Étienne was the honoured recipient of the 2003 Helen B. St. John Award for "outstanding professional contribution and leadership in the field of Modern languages" at the 2003 Spring Conference of the Ontario Modern Language Teachers Association. He is the youngest teacher to be given this honour, an honour that has been described as being akin to a lifetime achievement award.
Étienne Nabs two Parent's Choice Awards
Étienne's new CD "C'est le temps" and his popular video "Rockumentaire: les vidéos d'Étienne" were chosen as 2002 Parents’ Choice Award Winners. All of us at Educorock are thrilled with the news. It is a great honour to see products that are designed for teachers be recognized by the most trusted parental award committee in the world. To put these awards into perspective, please go to www.parents-choice.org. There, you will see that our CD "C'est le temps" won the same award as the new "Bob the Builder" CD. And, our "Rockumentaire" video was honoured on the same list that was topped by the new "Harry Potter" film.

The Parents' Choice Awards are bestowed upon products that meet and exceed standards set by educators, scientists, performing artists, librarians, parents, and yes, kids themselves. The Parents' Choice Foundation's purpose is to search out and recommend fairly priced products that help kids grow - imaginatively, physically, morally, and mentally - and that are fun, safe, and socially sound. Established in 1978, Parents' Choice is the nation's oldest not-for-profit consumer guide to quality children's media: books, toys, audios, software, television, videos, and magazines. The Foundation's mission is to impart solid information about the vast array of children's media products and toys that are on the market; helping parents and caregivers of all achievements and backgrounds make informed decisions about which new products are right for their children.

Here is a copy of the letter Educorock Productions Inc. received about the good news.
